Do you ever look around and think “Wow. That is beautiful!” and wonder why you never noticed it before? I challenge all of you to give it a try. Just make a conscious effort to see the world in a new way. I always envied photographers and artists because their mind is trained to see and look for beauty in everyday things. Even musicians, they can write lyrics and melodies that relate to people on a level of consciousness that we don’t often put to use in our everyday thinking. I am trying to train my mind to try to see things and situations differently then I once did, void of judgment at first glance.
I have been sick for 6 days. This cold is a clinger and I am so done with it but apparently my body is a great host and it wants to stay a bit longer. I was driving to work in a bit of a heady fog today when I realized how incredible it looked outside, like a postcard. I am no photographer but I tried to capture it for you above. The way the snow adorned the trees in an angelic white blanket is simply breathtaking and it makes me so grateful to live in a country that I get to experience the awe and beauty of seasons.
If you recall, my W.I.S.E. principles for this month are Wonder, Imagination, Smile and Energize.
I guess the number one lesson in this for me this month is living my life on purpose. It doesn’t have to be complicated at all. I am alive, I want that feeling of having happiness and joy in my life. I have purpose as a woman, a mother, a wife, and a friend. I get out of bed everyday with a mission. I set goals each day and make a choice to have a good day. I put real value in seeking out the right people and the right experiences and making a contribution. Life is like a bank account, you can’t keep taking from it without making any deposits. I want to fill my bank with memories to draw from in the future. Even if it is just a moment of laughter I shared with my children or a secret joke that I shared with my husband. I want to be able to take the bad, learn the lesson and crumple it up and throw it away. I want to hold onto the good memories as long as I can and draw from them in the future.
I don’t live in Utopia, life is hard. Life doesn’t always give you what you want and often you get a lot less than you deserve. But sometimes we are our own obstacle to what we want in life. If you want to be happy, it’s a choice, it’s not something you dream about or hope for it is a choice you make everyday. Happy people haven’t experienced less hardship or tragedy. They process these things and they deal with them. They choose to take the lesson and build on it, to be grateful and to seek out joy.
Having a cold for 6 days is anything but energizing so I just made my first Float appointment. Described as the “Perfect Art of doing nothing” this sounds like something I can handle.
Float pods (floatation tanks or sensory deprivation tanks) contain over 1000 pounds of Epsom Salt dissolved in 10 inches of water. Inside the float pod, the body is completely buoyant and all senses (sight, sound, touch, smell) are subdued. Floatique is designed to lessen the mystery, promote intrigue and radiate peace and happiness; all the while maintaining a space of trust and compassion. I have been told that one hour in the Float pod is equal to 6 hours of deep and restful sleep.
